On August 30, 2025, members of AYLUS Frisco-Plano participated in a fundraising event at the Russell Creek Park. Volunteers made and sold cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, rings, and water. The members added three new additions to the setup, with a new popcorn machine, some cotton candy crochet for the advertisers to use, as well as a cash register. There were 11 members this evening, with around two people each making one of the products stated above, as well as a position as cashier and advertisers.
In the beginning, the leaders gave a speech, explaining the purpose of AYLUS and its impact to the community. After that, members split into their job positions and started working. Because it was humid outside after it had finished raining, the snow cones were incredibly popular with the children, as well as the popcorn machine since it was a newly added treat for the volunteers to give to the kids. The cotton candy is still the most popular product, because the children all loved to see how the machine worked, and we met some returning customers because of it. The cotton candy crochet also attracted new customers, since advertisers could wave it around while walking without them melting. At the end of the event, all the volunteers stayed to clean up the station and pack up the supplies.
The members of AYLUS worked their hardest tonight, fundraising a ton of money for the children’s hospitals, as well as providing the local community with treats for the children. Good job volunteers!
