On Saturday, October 25, volunteers from AYLUS Frisco-Plano gathered at the Fedex office at McKinney to ship 21 boxes of books to Oketkwer Primary School in Uganda as part of the African Library Project (ALP). In total, our branch has collected over 650 books for children aged Kindergarten to 4th grade, and over 350 books for children between 5th to 8th grade with a total 1,030 books in this shipment. This will be the 9th library that our branch has helped create in underserved communities.
We thank all of the volunteers for their efforts in collecting donations, sorting through the books, and in packaging and sealing all of the boxes of books. We hope to continue working with the ALP to create more libraries and increase literacy across the world.
